what is some of your favorite quotes and some intersting facts about your life and some of your famous writings
From Stewart
Why don't you suggest a movie out of the Chrestomanci books? I think it would be a good idea, it would also be really fun if you wrote a few more of them. If there is a movie i would like to be on the try out list for one of the characters, if that is possible.
From Leonie
I'm 14 and from stourbridge, the first book of yours I read was Howls moving castle, I adore it. I've read your books ever since, your ideas captivate my imagenation. You've inspired me to write and I want to become an author. I am dyslexic and one of the things that has helped get around my problem is writing. Thank you for the inspiration.

I realy hope you're feeling better after your operation. I just read the story, What the cat told me. and I think it's absolutely wonderfull. I have two cats myself. one is 17 of age, her name is Rachna and she's exactly like the Cat in the story except that she is black and white in stead of ginger. She's realy cocky and think's she owns me but she's always very happy when she can crash down on my lap. I think she might as well could be a magical cat because she's realy old an has the most intreging look in her eyes. My other cat is still quite young, she's 3, her name's Puca. She's very smart my mother says. I always think that Puca is a bit of a messed up cat. We have a white lether chair and Puca always sits there but when someone else sits in that chair, Puca sits on there lap to chase them out. When I do something Puca doesn't realy like, she always purrs. (Rachna has just claimed my computer by sitting on my keyboard to show who's boss)Puca never sratchess me, I don't think she knows she has nails. When we just got Puca from the pound she realy didn't know how to be a proper cat. but Rachna has learned her. I used to have another Cat called Fluf, but she died sadly. Fluf was autistic. When you looked at Fluf she ran for it. One day Fluf was sitting on the roof wildly mewing. We called a fireman to get her of but Fluf was afraid of him. She sratched him realy bad and eventely got of the roof herself. Fluf died just half a year ago, it made Rachna very sad and me as well. Fluf was ever so funny and had the sweetest of looks. I realy like your books. I like writing too. I love to write po‘ms and stories. I'm busy on a book right now but I can't seem to get it finished, I have a beginning and an end but the middle's still missing and every time I sit down to write it I get all these idees for different books. But I think that one day, one very far away day, it'll be finished, I hope. I wish you inspiration, nice dreams and good luck Suzanne, Nijmegen, the Netherlands

Thank you for so many wonderful books, I love the Chrestomanci series and the year of the Griffin, I have to ask this question, but I don't mind who answers, am I right in thinking that Felim is the only person in the Year of the Griffin who does't end up in love or with some kind of romantic happy ending in sight, it's been a while since I read the book, but I remember thinking that that was really sad because he had had such a tough time of it recently and wasn't it his girlfriend who died or something? Is a sequel to The Year of the Griffin anywhere on the horizon?
From Joanna
Hi Diana. I met you at a book signing in the Charing Cross Road in 1990 (I'd humped about 30 of your books up there, and insisted on taking photos, so you might even remember!). When teaching in Brighton, I also got my class to write to you, and you sent a lovely letter back. I just wanted to let you know that, 23 years on, you are still far and away my favourite author. I'm still reading your books all the time, as well as recommending them to friends (particularly those who don't realise how superior your's are to those of JKR!), and buying them as presents. You told me in 1990 that you think I have more of your books than you have (obviously I have many more now than back in 1990!). I even have the Skiver's Guide and Yes Dear. My other half goes mad, 'cos I've got so many copies of the same book, and won't give any of them away! Out of all your books, my favourites are: Charmed Life (best of all books ever), Time of the Ghost, Fire and Hemlock, Howl's Moving Castle, the Spellcoats, Lives of Christopher Chant... I guess I'd better stop somewhere, but it's difficult. I've found myself rereading A Sudden Wild Magic and Deep Secret over and over again over recent years, as well! Anyway, thank you thank you thank you for so much inspiration over the years. By the way, a new Chrestomanci novel would be a real treat... hint, hint!!! Best wishes, Joanna xx

From Erica Wynne-Jones
Dear Diana My name is Erica Wynne-Jones I live in Australia and I am 13 years old. I LOVE your books and my favourites are: The Merlin Conspiracy, Archer's goon and Fire and Hemlock, but I love all of them so much. My auntie got me into reading your books and I can't thank her enough, I also know alot of people who read your books as well. I am really glad that I found this site so that I could send a message to you.
From Kaitlynn P.
Dianna, All the books that I have read of yours are wonderful. Your books are what trully inspired me to try to become a writer. My favorite book is Howl's Moving Castle. I love your work and admirer you greatly! Your Fan, Kaitlynn
From Julian
Diana, I'm pretty sure you may have heard this before, but I am wishing for a sequel to the Dalemark Quatret!!! I know it is a Quatret, but could you add another book, or at least a few chapters to the last book or an epilouge? You see, I found THE CROWN OF DALEMARK a fantastic book! But you held up so much momentum, the ending was a small dissapointment. First of all, the battle with Krankredin was extremely short and unexciting, except for how Mitt used the bigger name of the Earth Shaker. Next, we don't know if Maewan was successful or not in her request to, at least I believe this was to be her request, one of the Undying and to be with Mitt. It would be intersting, and I speak for all readers on this, if you could add another book or something that just about summs it up. I hope you do get to this. Your loving fan, Julian

Hey Diana! I truly believe The Tough Guide to Fantasyland is a MUST-READ for every fantasy fan. It is just too too funny and too too true. It is the ultimate roasting toast to all fantasy books. I purchased it first several years ago and sent it to my son who was in a South Carolina Army boot camp in small increments of about twenty pages each. I had to cut them out of the book and make sure they would fit in a regular sized envelope as mailing "books" was unallowed. Anyway, he had to dispose of them before moving on to his next stage of Army training. I just want you to know they provided him with a shining light full of humor and truth that got him and me through those dark days. He was recently home for his holiday visit and we purchased it again from Amazon. I received a copy in perfect condition and I'm enjoying it immensely all over again. It is one of the few books I find I can re-read with enjoyment. You are a wonder and thanks for this delightful little book that seems to have gone unnoticed by so many. What a shame. Thank you again
From Teresa
Just wanted to say-- keep writing! Compared to most of the respondants here, I'm ancient (a 20-something graduate student). I stumbled across your books in libraries back before the Harry Potter-induced-surge of YA and children's fantasy. For years I grumbled about the fact that your best works weren't in print anymore, so I'm delighted to see you gaining the popularity you deserve. And if there are anymore stories "like" _Fire and Hemlock_ in your head, write them-- that work continues to haunt me.
From Rachel
Hello! I just thought I`d leave a message for you as I saw Howl`s Moving Castle yesterday and I loved it. I am British but teaching English in Japan and the film has been huge here. There was a long queue right around the cinma on the first day it opened and everyone has been talking about it. I am ashamed to admit that I`ve never heard of your books or read any of them at home - sorry(!) but went to see the film with a friend - all in Japanese - but loved it so if and when I am at home I may endeavour to look them out! I hope that you have a good Christmas and New Year.
From Christabel, a.k.a Bookie
Hi. I am a 11 year old girl. I really enjoy your books, and I have an entire shelf devoted to them. My friend Robyn is not so keen though.Bye!
From Miriely
Since I was 12 years old (I'm 25 now) I have hoped for the opportunity to give you a great big appreciation hug for the joy your books have brought me. I guess I'll have to settle for the message board to let you know that nothing brought me greater happiness than discovering a new book or tale by you. I fell in love with Chrestomanci and Howl and have read their tales countless times. Thank you, thank you, thank you. You filled my world with magic in a way that no one else has. Merry Christmas and lots of love from an adoring fan in Miami, Florida.
From Kristie
Hi Diana, I know you asked us not to leave individual questions, but I hoped that by writing you a message, on the off chance you would read it, that it might put the idea into your head. I read some of the other messages, and I have to reiterate how great The Merlin Conspiracy is. Do you have any plans for writing a sequel to this book? It was the first of your books that I read, and I was hopelessly addicted to it! Thanks for writing it. :)
From Cynthia

Greetings! I'm a 21 year old book worm from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, way up there by Canada. In fact, most people think we ARE Canada. =) A friend of mine gave me The Dark Lord of Derkholm for my birthday one year, and I've read it at least 10 times since. It is a wonderfully written story with imaginative characters; Blade, Kit, and Derk are easily my favorites! Needless to say that I was thrilled to find The Year of the Griffen on the shelves! I noticed whilst browsing your site that you are planning a new installment to the Derkholm story, and I am positivly exstatic! Keep up the good work, and I hope you are up on your feet soon!
From Kelsey
I think you could make a movie out of one of your books, i think Dogsbody would make a good movies, please give it a thought. -Thankyou!
From Friends School of Baltimore Girls Book Club
Dear Ms. Jones, I am typing this on behalf of the girls in my bookclub. They want to tell you that they really loved "The Ogre Downstairs," especially the animal spirits (the pipe was a big favorite). They hope it will be made into a movie in the very near future. Sincerely, Phoebe E. Bacon LS librarian Friends School of Baltimore

I have read to my son since he was five days old. It has been a wonderul way to connect through the years. However, he is now 13 and for the last couple years it had been more difficult to find books we both could share with mutual delight. Then we started reading some of your books we'd not read before, and once again several nights a week we have been reading together for an hour or more. Thank you for this gift, which means so much more to me than even the book itself.
From Zanaida
I`m an exchange student in Japan and I have just been to see Howl`s Moving Castle. Although I could only understand about half of it, I thought it was an excellent movie. All the characters were wonderful ( and Howl was such a cutie! ). I am certainly going to read your books ^_^
From Rachel
Hi Diana, I have just discovered your books as a seventeen year old, and I absolutely adore them. I am totally and utterly hooked, although I had never been a fan of fantasy before. I am in awe of your style, your humour (it has me trying to stop killing myself laughing at one o'clock in the morning!) and the way you bring magic and other worlds and concepts down to earth and make them accessible, though still completely magical - none of your silly, made-up-sounding names and hackneyed storylines! (Conquering the Dark Lord and Saving the World hits the nail right on the head!) I know that some chilren's fantasy authors comes under censure from religious quarters for promoting magic, and I wondered what you thought about this. Can you believe in magic and still believe in God? I believe that anything which encourages a child to read, and develop his/her imagination and appreciation of language should be highly praised, and I think your books do just this. Sophie and Howl are my favourite characters so far, though I also love the entire Chant family (exluding Gwendolen, of course!). Thank you for writing such fantastic books, Rachel
From Jill
I've been a fan of your books since I picked up Howl's Moving Castle in eighth grade. I'm particualry fond of Howl's Moving Castle, Lives of Christopher Chant, Crown of Dalemark, Year of the Griffen, and Dark Lord of Derkholm. I've got to thank you for introducing me to griffins--I'd never heard of them until I read Dark Lord of Derkholm! I recently read the Dalemark Quartet, which I had previously attempted in middle school but couldn't muddle through for some reason or another, and I loved it. I particularly liked Navis, Maewen, Mitt, and Hildy--but I was shocked, after reading Drowned Ammet, to see Hildy behave so abominably to Mitt in Crown of Dalemark! Does she ever come to her senses?
